"The other Partizan"
Kelham Hall
Newark - September 2000.

The liberation of Minsk 29th June - 3rd July 1944.

As part of Operation Bagration a sweep north the city of Minsk by Russian armour in an attempt cut off the rereating Germans, resulted in a clash at Pleshchenitsky. Here forces of the 29th Tanks Corps, and the 3rd Guards Mechanised Corps have just crossed the river Bererina, and are starting to engage rear guard elements of 5th Panzer Division.

Victorious Red Army forces take Pleshchenitsky and press on to cut the last rail links out of Minsk. The city had already fallen by 3rd July from an attack in the south, cutting off large numbers of German forces.
