East of the Orne - 1st week after D-Day June 1944.
British Paratroops and Royal Marine Commandos seized a foothold east of the Orne river at D-Day.
Initially they were only supported from the air, but ground troops and armour started to arrive
in the area in numbers by the end of the first week.
Facing them was 21st Panzer Division armed with obsolete tanks, French tanks and numerous Lorraine
conversions all unique to this Division.
Here rocket firing Typhoons are called in to support the ground forces. |
